MAC Prep and Prime - Vibrancy Eye Primer

August 5, 2012 7:18 pm · Posted by Sheshopsmakeup

In my previous post, I featured 2 of my favorite products for lifting up the luminosity of my face, while taking away any dullness visible. In this entry, I shall feature a product which serves to brighten the skin around the eyes. This is of utmost importance especially when you are under immense stress and lack of sleep.

This product has received lots of mixed reviews, some good, some not so good. I guess it really depends on the individuals' expectation from the product. As the name goes, this is an eye primer which serves to brighten up the area around the eyes.

I remember when I purchased this product, I was hopeful that it would prime the under-eye area and prep it for concealer to the point where I would not experience any creasing under the eyes. Under-eye creasing was a huge problem for me months ago and I bought tons of concealers and "so-called" primers with an attempt to combat the problem. I have since discovered the trick to de-crease the under-eye, though it had got nothing to do with the MAC Vibrancy Eye Primer. Will share my trick in a later post! Clearly, at that time, I was utterly disappointed with this product - I had high hopes!

As with most products, this got neglected and was hogging bottom of my vanity cabinet until recently when I decided to give it another shot but with slightly different expectation. I was looking to brighten up under my eyes. Low and behold, it really did what the name says - add VIBRANCY! It does an amazing job at brightening the under-eye area prior to concealer. It does help to smooth out the skin a little but it does not fill in the fine lines which cause creasing. The Shu Uemura Signs-Off does a better job at that.

I have been using the Vibrancy Eye Primer over the last month to help combat my terrible, horrible, gross eyebag and darkness under the eye. It provides a lift to the under-eye and helps concealer to stay put all day. Been loving it so far.

I highly recommend this if you are looking to brighten up under your eyes.

Hope this was helpful for you!!

Shu Uemura Stage Performer - Instant Glow & Signs-off

August 5, 2012 6:41 pm · Posted by Sheshopsmakeup

Hihi!!

It's been a while since I last found the time and energy to switch on my macbook to blog! Work has been pretty hectic the last month and I realised I have been reaching for a couple of products constantly to help conceal the fatigue on my face and skin. Yup... Thank goodness for makeup!

2 such products are the Shu Uemura Stage Performer Instant-Glow and Signs-Off.

On the tube, it says Instant-Glow - Immediate radiance skin perfecting cream. I think it has been marketed as a skincare product rather than a cosmetic (since it is found in the skincare section of the Shu Uemura counters). I first saw this being featured in Sophia's blog and picked it up months ago. I had tried it then but did not experience the full potential of the product (probably my skin was less dull at that time).

It wasn't until recent weeks that I rediscovered the Instant-Glow and loved it! I found myself reaching for it every single day without fail.

It is a multi-functional beauty cream made to enhance makeup finish and deliver a natural glow. It contains Ginkgo Leaf extract to fight oxidation. When applied to the face after moisturizer, my skin appeared more luminous, translucent and smooth. It also seems to provide pretty good hydration.

Personally, I use it like a primer and I find it works amazingly to not only smooth out the face but also provides a radiant glow which peaks through my BB Cream or foundation to give my face the "omph" required to fight the mental fatigue.

The cream has got little exfoliating bead-like particles which "burst" when you spread the cream. It blends into the skin like a tinted moisturizer but with skin smoothing and radiance properties. A little goes a long way. I also found that it helps the foundation stay longer on the face without oxidizing. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a good primer or makeup base.

The Shu Uemura Signs-Off worked really well alongside Instant-Glow because it was more like a spot corrector for instant line smoothing. If you have been following my blog for a while, you would probably know I am obsessed with anything that helps reduce the visibility of lines on my face. Lines just make people look older!

There are many line smoother and pore reducing products in the market. One of which I have been eyeing for the longest time was the Benefit Porefessional. What kept me from buying that was the fact that I did not like the silicon texture. I found it to be drying which is something I try to avoid. So I have always been on the look out for line smoothers which do not have that silicon texture.

The Shu Uemura Signs-Off is one such product. It works pretty well and good as a line filler. However, don't expect it to be fill in every line as perfectly as a silicon based product. I think this product is great for people with dry skin or are allergic to silicon.

A teeny weeny bit goes a long way! As you can see from the above, it does smooth out the lines on my hands. I use it largely for under my eyes and laughlines around my mouth.

Have you tried any of these products? Do share your experiences!

Hope this helps.
